Madrid, October 21, 2015. In honor of breast cancer awareness International day, The Stanpa Foundation organized a meeting at its headquarters in Madrid to thank the work of the beauty professional volunteers participating in workshops that teach women undergoing cancer treatment, makeup techniques, skincare and sun protection to enhance their appearance, helping them feel better and have a more positive attitude.

Pilar Cairó, director of “Ponte Guapa, Te Sentirás Mejor” program (“Make Yourself Beautiful, you’ll feel better”), acknowledged the contribution of time, enthusiasm, professionalism and creativity of these beauty experts, awarding them a diploma that emphasizes its great solidarity contribution. “The need of volunteers is a constant for the Stanpa Foundation. Your contribution makes each workshop conducted in public hospitals in which we are present, a very special experience for patients.”

During these sessions, more than 60 volunteers who collaborate altruistically, guided patients through the 12 essential steps for skin care, hair and makeup, helping them regain their self-esteem and feel beautiful. To do this, they receive specific training on approach to cancer patients and cosmetics principles for skincare and makeup of the patient during this period.

In addition, during the meeting with the group of volunteers, Spanish Kits Company, co-founders of the Stanpa Foundation and company responsible for developing and composing the beauty kit -in which inside the women participating in the workshops could find products donated by 30 perfume and cosmetics companies that were collaborating in this program, completely free of charge- shared their experience in the field of humanitarian aid, without leaving aside other sectors attended like Hygiene Comfort in Hospitals and Children’s Dental Education, in its 20 years of experience nationally and internationally.

Since its implementation in Spain, in 2012, the “Ponte Guapa, Te Sentirás Mejor” (“Make Yourself Beautiful, you’ll feel better”) is present in 22 public hospitals in Albacete, Alicante, Barcelona, Ciudad Real, Girona, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Tarragona, Valencia, Valladolid y Vitoria . It also has the collaboration of health professionals (doctors, nurses, psycho-oncologists and volunteers from AECC) plus 60 beauty professionals’ volunteers.

One of the goals of the Foundation Stanpa for next year is to reach more women, incorporating new public hospitals to expand the presence of the program throughout the Spanish geography; and to extend its network of volunteers as one of the cornerstones of the project.
